A light heavyweight
Weighing only 273g with batteries, the Speedlight SB-500 is surprisingly portable with dimensions of just 67mm (width) x 114.5mm (height) x 70.8mm (diameter). Its flash head tilts up to 90° and rotates 180° left and right, reducing your need for unnatural shading with additional accessories. Simply slot in 2 R7/AA-size batteries and start snapping away with ease.
Outshining the competition
Small in size but big on performance, the SB-500 offers best-in-class brightness for flashlights that use 2 AA-sized batteries. Select from three output levels of LED light – low, mid, and high – and experience the SB-500 difference, even in dark interiors or at close distances. Its colour temperature is closer to natural sunlight, so you can use it as an auxiliary light even when you’re outdoors. With a coverage of 24mm*1 lens angle of view in FX-format DSLRs, it provides even lighting to reproduce colour as you see it. The color information communication function of the Speedlight also works seamlessly to automatically set the most appropriate white balance when paired with compatible cameras such as the D810 and D750.

High-performance LED light is incorporated that is effective for movie recording and close-up still shooting
The
LED light provides output of approx. 100 lx, the highest-class
brightness among products using two AA-size batteries. Illumination with
a surface light source utilizing a diffuser covers the angle of view of
a 24 mm lens (FX format). Output level is selectable in three steps
(Low, Mid, High). As the color temperature is 5400K, that is close to
sunlight, it can be naturally used as an auxiliary light during outdoor
shooting. The color information communication function automatically
sets the most appropriate white balance when attached to the D810 or
D750. Also, superior color rendering performance ensures faithful
reproduction of a subject’s color.
Supports the Nikon Creative Lighting System
Six
CLS features out of seven are available: i-TTL mode, Advanced Wireless
Lighting, Modeling flash, FV lock, Flash color information
communication, Auto FP High-speed Sync. Wide-area AF Assist Illuminator
is not supported. In Advanced Wireless Lighting, the SB-500 can be used
as a master flash or remote flash using the camera’s built-in flash as a
master.
Easy-to-understand operation
When
attached to the D750, the SB-500 is automatically recognized and flash
settings are enabled from the camera’s custom menu. Even commander mode
can be set from the camera.
Compatible with readily available AA-size batteries
