adds UHD 4K60p recording, a vertical tripod mount, and other
video-friendly features from the Cinema EOS line to a sleek, brick-like
body redesigned to elevate video content production.
V-Series Enhancements
- In addition to the vertical orientation mounting point, the redesigned body sports a front record button to speed up and simplify the production process.
- Cropped UHD 4K video recording at 60 fps is now available, along with Slow and Fast modes for creative control of the video frame rate and playback speed.
- Dual Pixel CMOS AF II tracking now includes subject recognition algorithms introduced in the R5 Mark II, including Register People Priority and auto, people, animal, and vehicle detection.
- Advanced video features from the Cinema EOS line, including Canon Log 3, HLG, PQ, 709 Recording, False Color, and Zebras.
- Automatic Exposure and Scene modes and Movie presets such as Close-up Demo, Smooth Skin, and Movie IS, as well as color filters.
- The multi-function accessory shoe supports LPCM 24-bit, four-channel audio recording with an external microphone, and is compatible with external flash units when shooting stills.
- Four different built-in live streaming modes—UVC via USB connection, Live Switcher mobile streaming for multi-camera setups, HDMI streaming, and Camera Connect streaming via the app—help maximize live audience reach.
24.2MP APS-C CMOS Sensor and DIGIC X Processing
Pairing
a powerful 24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor and DIGIC X image processor, the
R50 V delivers high-resolution imagery with striking and accurate
colors. Designed to work in a variety of lighting conditions, this
camera offers a flexible ISO 100-32000 range that is expandable to ISO
51200. Using the full width of the sensor, 6K oversampled UHD 4K 30p
video recording is supported as is Full HD 1080 120p for slow motion
playback. Capable of processing high-speed bursts and high-resolution 4K
video, the DIGIC X image processor also supports up to 15 fps
continuous shooting via its silent electronic shutter.
Enhanced Dual Pixel CMOS AF II
Featuring
651 high-precision autofocus zones, the advanced Dual Pixel CMOS AF II
system provides fast and accurate focusing performance. This
phase-detection focusing system offers enhanced subject detection and
tracking, with the ability to intelligently recognize people, animals,
and vehicles while automatically locking onto these subjects and
maintaining sharp focus throughout bursts and video captures.
3.0" Vari-Angle Touchscreen LCD
A
large 3.0" 1.04m-dot vari-angle touchscreen provides an intuitive
interface for controlling focusing points, navigating menus, and
reviewing imagery. This screen also features a vari-angle design for
ease of use when working from high and low angles. When shooting in the
vertical orientation, info display and playback can be set accordingly,
with auto level display also available while recording.
Flexible Connectivity
- Wired and wireless connectivity options allow for multiple methods of transferring photos and videos, livestreaming, as well as for remotely controlling the camera. Physically, the camera features a USB-C port, a micro-HDMI port, and a microphone port for video recording.
- Built-in Bluetooth pairing lets you easily connect the camera to compatible smart devices using the free Canon Camera Connect app. This low-energy wireless connection helps preserve battery life, while providing remote control of the camera.
- Built-in Wi-Fi connectivity enables quick and seamless wireless functions, such as remote live view, file viewing, and transfer. Using the Canon Camera Connect app, you can also transfer files to your mobile device to browse and share on social media.
- Built-in USB-C allows you to connect the camera to a smartphone or computer. All Canon Camera Connect app features that can be used with Wi-Fi are now available when the camera and smartphone are connected via USB, using a compatible cable for your device.
Canon RF-S 14-30mm f/4-6.3 IS STM PZ Lens (Canon RF)
A versatile, video-ready zoom in a compact package, the Canon RF-S 14-30mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM PZ Lens
is made specifically for use as a kit lens for the APS-C-format R50 V
mirrorless camera, where it delivers a wide-angle to short telephoto
equivalent zoom range of 22-48mm. Fully compatible with any other
RF-mount body, the lens has both power zoom functionality and image
stabilization to deliver optimal results when shooting video.
Canon
has taken care with the optical design, using two aspherical elements,
an ultra-low dispersion element, and Super Spectra Coating to minimize
aberrations and reduce ghosting and flare. The small form factor and
5.9" minimum focus distance make it useful for intimate portraits in
tight spaces. The built-in image stabilizer will also work with Movie
Digital IS in compatible bodies like the R50 V. Additionally, the lead
screw-type STM AF system is fast enough to keep up with speedy
continuous focus while being smooth and quiet enough to work for video.
