Image quality that will blow you away

A 32.5 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor works hand-in-hand with our bespoke DIGIC 8 image processor to deliver fantastic image quality – clarity, tonality and colour are all abundant, while noise in low-light conditions is kept to an absolute minimum. Sensitivity extends up to ISO 25,600 for hand-held shooting in dark conditions, while a wide dynamic range allows detail to be retained in bright highlights and dark shadows.

Catch the most fleeting moments

Reveal the moments it’s impossible to see with the naked eye, shooting 32.5 megapixel images at up to 10 frames per second. High ISO sensitivities (up to ISO 25,600) let you freeze action with breathtakingly fast shutter speeds, as a quick as 1/8000sec.

Quick enough to catch the moment

A great choice for sports and wildlife photographers: capture incredibly detailed 32.5 megapixel images at a rate of 10fps with continuous focusing when using the camera’s viewfinder, or 11fps in Live View mode. The APS-C format provides additional ‘reach’ with your telephoto lenses so you can easily get closer to distant action in your composition and create large, powerful prints.

Support for UHS-II SD memory cards lets the camera write images quickly, and allows up to 58 full-size JPEG files, 25 RAW files or 39 CRAW files to be shot in a single burst.

The EOS 90D’s Flicker Detection controls the EOS 90D’s continuous frame rate in order to compensate for the flickering light often found in indoor sports locations.

Stay sharp, stay focused

Even moving subjects are tracked and kept in sharp focus, thanks to the EOS 90D’s sophisticated AF systems. Whether you shoot with the camera’s stunning optical viewfinder, or its versatile Vari-Angle touchscreen, focusing is fast, accurate and precise.

Fast, accurate focusing

45 autofocus points are distributed around the EOS 90D’s optical viewfinder, all of which are cross-type for enhanced sensitivity and accuracy whether shooting horizontally or vertically. Shoot in light as dark as -3EV and with lens-converter combinations that have a maximum aperture of just f/8.

Use AF points by themselves or in groups and areas – which can be moved quickly and easily around the frame using an intuitive AF multi-controller. The iTR AF focusing system uses colour and face information to recognise and track moving subjects. Take control over focus sensitivity and focus tracking to match the camera’s AF behaviour to the kind of subjects you’re photographing.

Dual Pixel CMOS AF

When shooting in Live View mode, or when capturing video, Canon’s renowned Dual Pixel CMOS AF system delivers superb sharpness and wide-area coverage, plus low light performance down to -5EV. With up to 100x88% vertical and horizontal frame coverage, and a choice of up to 5,481 AF positions, you can fine-tune your compositions with ease. The inclusion of Face and eye detection allows moving people to be tracked and kept in sharp focus.

Focus bracketing

When it’s important to have maximum depth of field right across an image, such as when shooting macro photography, focus bracketing can ensure complete sharpness. With one press of the shutter button, the EOS 90D shoots continuously while adjusting the focus distance from its initial position right through to the background. A composite image is then created, using Canon’s Digital Photo Professional software, to create an image which is in focus throughout.

Take a clearer view

The EOS 90D has a bright, approx.100% coverage optical viewfinder that lets you view action as it happens and makes it easier to track fast-moving subjects, such as birds in flight. An intelligent customisable display shows key shooting information, so you always know what’s happening even when the pressure is on.

EOS 90D’s Vari-Angle touchscreen lets you shoot comfortably from different angles. You can focus and shoot with a single tap, making this a very intuitive way to work.

Fast as lightning, sharp as a pin

Even the quickest subjects are tracked and kept pin-sharp, thanks to an advanced autofocusing system. 45 cross-type AF points work with a 220,000-pixel RGB+IR exposure sensor for outstanding low-light sensitivity as well as subject recognition.

A photographer’s camera

The EOS 90D is the latest in a long line of DSLRs from Canon, each one a refinement and evolution on the last. This re-assuring yet customisable design feels instinctive from the moment you pick it up – controls fall perfectly under fingers and thumbs and the camera is very well balanced with both long telephoto and short, wide-angle lenses from Canon’s extensive range of optics.

Connected to your digital life

Built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi adds another dimension to your creativity. The EOS 90D works together with smart devices running the Canon Camera Connect app* to make it easy to share images via messaging and social media. It’s also possible to control the camera remotely, for alternative viewpoints.

* Bluetooth functionality with Camera Connect app requires smart device to be equipped with Bluetooth version 4.0 (or later). Also requires smart device to be using operating system iOS 11.4 (or later) or Android 5.0 (or later) see specifications for detail

Unleash your inner film director

The EOS 90D is superb filmmaking tool, with the ability to shoot resolutions up to 4K and frame rates up to 120p in Full HD mode. Our superb Dual Pixel CMOS AF focusing system keeps things looking sharp and cinematic. Microphone and headphone connections let you capture a soundtrack that’s every bit as good as the imagery.

EOS 90D Shooting Video

A selection of frame rates

When shooting in Full HD mode, a range of frame rates is available, from 30 or 25fps to a smooth 50 or 60fps – ideal for moving subjects. A 100 or 120fps option is also available, which is superb for slow motion effects.*

In-camera 4K time-lapse, with 3 different pre-sets, allows you to portray motion on a completely different timescale. 4K frame grab allows 8 megapixel JPEG images to be created from individual frames of video footage.

*High frame rate movies include a slight crop to the image area of 84.1% horizontal, 84.2% vertical”

Built for filmmaking

When using the EOS 90D for video projects, you’ll notice features that are designed to make life easier, so you can be more creative. For example, the camera’s Vari-Angle touchscreen helps you shoot from virtually any angle, and microphone and headphone sockets let you record and monitor audio precisely.

Our renowned Movie Servo Dual Pixel CMOS AF system can track moving objects around the frame, including faces thanks to its Face and Eye Detection AF capability, which can be active even when shooting movies. Shifting focus from one subject to another is as easy as tapping the camera’s touchscreen – you can even adjust focus on the screen of your smart device running the Canon Camera Connect app. The speed of focusing can be set in the camera’s menu system, allowing you to create slow or fast pull-focus effects.

Manual focusing is also easy, with focus peaking that shows what’s sharp and what’s not using colourful outlines.
